The power of teamwork and collaboration

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Columbia provides ongoing learning and development training to ensure that our AmeriCorps members feel confident and prepared in their roles. Your first day of service begins with Basic Training Academy, which is a three to four week on-boarding experience. You’ll be matched to your service school, meet our staff and your service team, receive training to prepare for the year ahead and learn about Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s mission, culture and values.
Halfway through the year, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Columbia dedicates several days to Advanced Training Academy. Typically, training takes place outside of school service. It is an opportunity to refocus and reflect on what you have learned, set goals for the second half of the year and reconnect with the full Â鶹ÊÓƵ Columbia community.
Learning and Development trainings include:
- Strategies for tutoring in Math and English Language Arts
- Effectively coaching and mentoring youth
- Promoting positive school culture and successful after school programming
- Collaboration and resource sharing
- Reflection and self-care
- Community asset mapping
Professional Development trainings include:
- Networking events
- Resume and interview workshops
- Guest speakers
- Alumni engagement
- College, career, and community service application support
