Your service year will be rewarding and challenging. Outlined below are the ways that Â鶹ÊÓƵ will prepare and support you in your work this year and beyond.
The power of teamwork and collaboration
We value dialogue and creating environments where our differences are supported and celebrated. Your experience will be most rewarding when you have a growth mindset to learn about yourself, your students, partners and the world around us.
Our Learning and Development team is dedicated to your growth and development. Â鶹ÊÓƵ Cleveland teams are made up of a group of First Year AmeriCorps members, a Second Year AmeriCorps member, an AmeriCorps Team Leader and potentially a school day learning coach. All of these roles are managed by an Impact Manager who is a full-time Â鶹ÊÓƵ Staff Member.
The first few weeks of your service year will be full-time training, called Basic Training Academy (BTA). In these trainings, you all focus on building community with one another, getting to know the Cleveland area and self-reflection. After these first few weeks, you will get assigned your school team and from there the trainings will occur a few times a month and be more school specific and job specific.
AmeriCorps members will also focus on their Life After Â鶹ÊÓƵ (LACY) plans throughout the year with support of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff. Â鶹ÊÓƵ Cleveland makes connections for AmeriCorps members based on their fields of interest. Historically, the site has hosted a Law School Panel, and brought in Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumni working in the law field. This is just one example of the types of supports you will be able to engage in throughout your service year.
