Makes sense, right? As a �鶹��Ƶ AmeriCorps member, you’ll spend a year in classrooms helping students achieve their personal and academic goals. Your work will support teachers, school administrators and parents—the entire school community. So, by the end of your service, you’ll have a well-rounded idea of the joys and challenges of working in education. Your corps year will help lay the foundation for a career working in the nonprofit education sector.

Children’s Corps

Children’s Corps seeks to enhance the child welfare workforce through the specialized selection, training, and support of new caseworkers. Its mission is to improve children’s chances for success by building a workforce of highly skilled and dedicated workers. Children’s Corps plays a unique role like a hiring agency but specializes in child welfare and partners with New York City provider agencies eager to employ corps members.

Children’s Corps is a two-year commitment that connects members with New York City’s most vulnerable children and families. Members will also have access to hands-on coaching from Children’s Corps staff, professional mentors and regular training to support and guide their practice.

iMentor

iMentor is an organization that builds mentoring relationships empowering first-generation students from low-income communities to graduate high school and succeed in college. iMentor partners with public schools in New York City, Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Baltimore to ensure every student receives a mentor. They are an equity-focused organization that recognizes the systemic nature of educational disparities and how they impact students of color. The organization focuses on addressing the economic and racial divides that affect the communities it serves.

iMentor Program Managers (PMs) facilitate high-impact relationships between mentee and mentor pairs using iMentor’s programmatic model. PMs also leverage the classroom environment to inspire personal and academic development for each mentee enrolled in the program, pivoting students to develop strong relationships with their mentors.

The �鶹��Ƶ experience is a strong indicator of future success at iMentor. Serving two years with �鶹��Ƶ strengthens an applicant’s application and chances of being selected as a Program Manager.

Reading partners

Reading Partners is an education nonprofit that works to solve the literacy crisis in the US by leveraging community volunteers and AmeriCorps members in systemically under-resourced schools. AmeriCorps members serve an 11-month service term across 15 sites in 13 states to help provide students with individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by the fourth grade. Corps members provide hour-long tutoring sessions that follow a .

Reading Partners AmeriCorps members earn a model annual stipend along with medical, dental, and vision at no cost. Participants are also eligible for the Segal Education Award after successfully completing the service term.

Saga Education

Saga Education is a national nonprofit that partners with school districts in Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C. to supplement teacher instruction by providing Tutoring Fellows for students who need additional support. Tutoring Fellows give consistent, personalized, in-school-day academic tutoring. Saga Educations believes relationships young people benefit most when they have a community of caring adults working to help them succeed.

Saga Education provides a modest living stipend to all AmeriCorps members for their 10-month term of service, which lasts from August to June. Corps members are also eligible for health and dental insurance, loan forbearance or deferment, and a pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA). As with all AmeriCorps programs, corps members with Saga Education are eligible to receive the Segal Education Award after successfully completing service.

KIPP Public Charter Schools

KIPP Public Charter Schools is a nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools serving elementary, middle, and high school students. They believe all students can learn and achieve at high levels if given the opportunity—and a great education has the power to transform lives.

As a KIPP Teaching Fellow, you’ll be a part of a year-long, individualized coaching and professional development program. You’ll receive guidance on creating lesson planning and fostering a learning environment where students can thrive. You’ll also receive support with obtaining your teaching certification. And you’ll have access to the entire KIPP network, where you can connect with educators who are passionate about addressing educational equity in our communities.
