Florida State University’s College of Social Work offers Â鶹ÊÓƵ AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

Tuition waivers

Up to two Â鶹ÊÓƵ applicants per year will be awarded tuition waivers to cover the cost of nine graduate credit hours per academic semester towards a full-time master’s degree program at the main campus in Tallahassee, Florida. The nine credit hours tuition waiver is renewable for up to six semesters, including summer semesters.

Most students take 12-15 credit hours per semester. Students who receive a tuition waiver for nine of these credits are responsible for tuition payments for the additional credit hours.

Tuition waivers are awarded to Â鶹ÊÓƵ AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff employed for at least two years.

Additional benefits

  • The application fee must be paid when applying. However, the cost of the application, contingent on acceptance and enrollment, will be added to the total stipend received as part of the recipient’s graduate assistantship. Graduate assistants are hired in order to support faculty research and program administration.
  • Enrollment deferral: a one-year deferral for students who are admitted to the program and decide to serve additional time with Â鶹ÊÓƵ before starting their studies with the College of Social Work.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship

Upon admission to the program, Â鶹ÊÓƵ scholarship recipients will have the cost of their application added to the total stipend they receive as part of their graduate assistantship.

To be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “FSU CSW: Â鶹ÊÓƵ verification letter request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by Â鶹ÊÓƵ to the admissions office and added to your applicant file.
